Biography

Dr. Allison is a Gulf War Army veteran and Doctor of Physical Therapy. He has been licensed to practice in Louisiana since 1993, and he became a certified DOT medical examiner in 2015. His professional background as an orthopedic physical therapist with in-depth knowledge and training in evaluating a commercial driver's physical function compliments the standard core DOT physical examination. Specific baseline measures of impaired joint and spine range of motion (functional mobility for climbing into and out of a truck cab, perform pre-post trip inspections, couple and uncouple trailers, raise and lower trailer supports), and grip strength (sufficiency for steering wheel control, connecting air lines and electrical cables, and pulling a king pin) are also performed to more adequately assess a driver's ability to safely operate a commercial motor vehicle.
