Accredited Breath Alcohol Technician Training

This course may be used for Initial training OR the 5-Year Recertification training.

Motor Carriers & Drivers are required to be in an Alcohol and Drug Testing program that includes random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and other alcohol testing.

Breath Alcohol Technicians can perform alcohol testing for:

  • Commercial drivers
  • Pilots
  • School bus drivers
  • Merchant Mariners
  • Transit employees
  • Pipeline workers
  • All other DOT Administrations
  • All non-DOT regulated businesses that conduct alcohol testing of their employees

This training is specifically for use of LIFELOC Breath Alcohol Testing Equipment only.

Prior to registration, you must choose which device you will be using, the Lifeloc EV30 or Phoenix 6.0.

Federal regulations require a 2-part training to become a DOT Certified Specimen Collector:

A “Qualification Course” followed by a “Proficiency Demonstration”

Qualification Training:

  • Training Video

Upon registration, you will be able to access training instructions through the Training Portal which is the first dropdown link under the training menu. You may start or stop the video at any time and return to finish the video as needed.

  • Forms, Charts, Brochures

Available for your use are testing forms, charts that offer guidance, and brochures that you may find useful.

Students will receive a LIFELOC Certificate upon completion of this portion of the training. You must call TeamCME at (541) 276-6032 to schedule your “Proficiency Demonstration” which must be completed within 30 days.

Proficiency Demonstration:

  • Mock Breath Alcohol Testing

This face-to-face proficiency demonstration is performed with a TeamCME representative via video conference, and usually takes about 60 minutes to complete.

Students must have a LIFELOC Breath Alcohol Tester available to perform the proficiency demonstration.

Cancellation/Rescheduling without 24+ hour notice will result in a $25 fee.

Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) ERROR CORRECTION ONLY:

For those that only need Error Correction Training, this accredited training review of the error subject and limited “Proficiency Demonstration” satisfies the DOT requirement for Error Correction training when required by DOT regulation. Provided as a live web conference with a TeamCME representative.

This course is for those who have already completed “Qualification” training and ONLY need to complete BAT “Proficiency Demonstration” to become a Breath Alcohol Technician. This course only satisfies the DOT requirement for “Proficiency” training to provide DOT Alcohol Testing. It is provided as a live web conference with a TeamCME representative. Students must have a LIFELOC Breath Alcohol Tester to demonstrate proficiency.

This course may be used for the initial proficiency demonstration or the 5 Year Recertification Training requirement.

LIFELOC Phoenix 6 or EV-30 Yearly Calibration:

For TeamCME Members Only!   We will help you with your yearly calibration of the Phoenix 6.0 or EV-30 as required by the Lifeloc quality assurance plan. Or we encourage you to return your equipment to Lifeloc for a more complete service which includes; yearly calibration, diagnostics and a mechanical check-up.  Performed as a live Skype meeting with the TeamCME C-LOCT. Yearly calibration must be performed by a Lifeloc Certified Operator and Calibration Technician (C-LOCT).
