FAQs

What is a C-LOCT?

A Certified Lifeloc Operator and Calibration Technician (C-LOCT) is a certification provided by Lifeloc which demonstates that you are able to perform calibration and calibration checks on Lifeloc EBT devices.

How long is calibration technician certification good for?

Certified operator and calibration technicians are certified for 5 years from the original certification date. To remain certified, an individual must retake a certification course which is now always included with the breath alcohol technician training.

What are the certification renewal requirements for calibration technicians?

From now on, TeamCME will be providing the C-LOCT training in conjuction with the breath alcohol technician training. Both certifications must be renewed every 5 years. The renewal training and the initial training are generally the same training.

What is the difference between a breath alcohol technician (BAT) and a screen test technician (STT)?

A Screening Test (This can be performed by either a BAT or STT) โ€“ When employees come in for testing, they give a breath or saliva sample to show they havenโ€™t been drinking. This first test is called a screening. If they pass the screening test and prove theyโ€™re sober, then the employee is good to go. If they fail the test, they must move on to the next step.

Step 2: A Confirmation Testย  (This can only be performed by a BAT)If the employee fails the breath or saliva test, then the DOT requires a confirmation test to be administered after 15 but no later than 30 minutes after the first test. The second test is necessary to prove the accuracy of the firstย

How long is the calibration technician training course?

The first part of the training takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.ย  The proficiency demonstration takes roughly 30 minutes to complete.

Can I review the material multiple times?
