Because the proportion of alcohol in saliva is directly related to the proportion of alcohol in blood, the Alco-Screen can easily and quickly detect the presence of a blood alcohol concentration of .02 or greater. The Alco-Screen 02 for alcohol screening tests required by Dept. of Transportation regulations.
Simply place the alcohol strip on the tongue to saturate the testing pad, or have the subject spit into a cup and dip the reagent pad into the cup until the pad is saturated. Then lay the test strip on a flat surface. After four minutes, read the results. Alcohol concentrations of 0.02 or greater cause a solid green line to form on the reagent pad. It will not give false positive readings when no alcohol is present.
When a positive result is obtained the donor must obtain a breath alcohol test within 15 minutes.
