1:30 PM – 2:15 PM: The Vision Standard, Examiner Responsibilities, Determination Pending, Foreign Drivers

A detailed overview of the vision standard, new alternate vision standard, and common disorders.

2:15 PM – 2:45 PM: Break
2:45 PM – 3:45 PM: Hearing, Neurological Conditions

Get an in-depth review of the medical determination criteria for seizures, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and more. Also, a detailed overview of the hearing standard, common hearing disorders, and symptoms that may affect the ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

4:00 PM – 5:15 PM: Musculoskeletal Diseases, Drug & Alcohol Abuse

You will learn the requirements surrounding drug and alcohol abuse and substance abuse programs (SAP). We will discuss what is needed and how to make a medical certification determination for drivers with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions and/or deformities. Learn about how and when to use the Skilled Performance Evaluation (SPE).

8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: GI & GU, Urinalysis, Diabetes, Thyroid Disease

We will discuss possible issues and concerns regarding gastrointestinal and genitourinary conditions and give an overview of the urinalysis. Review the difference in protocols between insulin-treated diabetes and non-insulin-treated diabetes.

9:15 AM – 10:15 AM: Mental Health Disorders, General Medication Use

We discuss the guidelines for drivers suffering from mental health conditions. We also discuss how to make a correct certification determination for drivers using various medications.
