Dr. Tad Scarbrough grew up in Pumpkin Bend, AR, a small rural community located approximately 2 miles north of Morton. He worked at his dad's crop dusting service during the long summer days and developed a love for flying. One day his dad was lifting on a stam barrel and injured his lower back. To make a long story short, after seeing a few doctors, who recommended he have back surgery, a chiropractor named Dr. Calvin Harris in Brinkley, was able to ease his back pain and get him going again. His dad never had to have back surgery! This totally changed Tad's life and he decided he, too, would become a chiropractor!
After graduating from McCrory High School in 1989, Tad received his Associate of Arts degree from East Arkansas Community College before transferring to Arkansas State University, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Zoology degree. He then attended Life University in Atlanta, GA and graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude), receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1999.
While attending school, Dr. Scarbrough worked as a Certified Personal Trainer at Personal Trainers Plus, Inc. in Jonesboro, AR, for approximately 2 years. There he learned the importance of rehab and flexibility. Along the way, he also obtained his pilot's license and scuba diving license.
Dr. Scarbrough is Board Certified with the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners, passing the Physiotherapy and all 3 mandatory National Board exams. He even went on to pass the optional 4th Chiropractic National Board exam, which most chiropractors opt to skip due to the high failure rate! In addition, he passed the very difficult Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine exam. Dr. Scarbrough currently holds active licenses in Arkansas and Florida.
Tad opened Scarbrough Chiropractic Inc. in West Memphis, AR, in 2000. There he worked closely with a local radiologist, Dr. Scott Ferguson, and learned much more about imaging. In 2003, his dad was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer. Wanting to help his dad as much as possible, Tad sold his practice and moved home to help with the crop dusting service until his dad passed away in 2004.
In June 2005, he and his wife, Shelby, opened an office in Brinkley, AR. In 2009, they acquired George Chiropractic Clinic in Wynne. A month later, Dr. Thrash moved out of state and asked Dr. Scarbrough to take care of his patients and Dr. Scarbrough acquired all of the patient files from Thrash Chiropractic in Forrest City.
Dr. Scarbrough and his wife had the opportunity to adopt two beautiful babies, twins Jackson & Addison, in September 2007. These two blessings from Heaven keep them busy when they aren't working. Never a dull moment!
Dr. Scarbrough is a member of the Arkansas Chiropractic Society, the First Chiropractic Physicians Association of America, and the American Chiropractic Association. He is also trained and certified in Acupuncture, as well as Soft Tissue Pain Management & Triggerpoint Therapy.
Dr. Scarbrough has also served as Adjunct Faculty with EACC and Mid-South Community College where he taught Biology. And, in 2011 the name of the clinic was changed to the "Scarbrough Clinic" to help include the newest addition of a nurse practitioner to the staff.
In 2012, Dr. Scarbrough started working on his Board Certification in Chiropractic Functional Neurology by attending The Carrick Institute. He graduated from The Carrick Institute for Graduate Studies in 2015 with his Post-doctoral diploma in Clinical Neuroscience.
