This course is intended for Medical Doctors (MD), Doctors of Osteopathy (DO), Doctors of Nursing Practice (DNP), Nurse Practitioners (NP), Physician Assistants (PA), Advanced Practice Nurses and Registered Nurses (APN & APRN) and Chiropractors.

It was designed by one of the ORIGINAL SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS who collaborated with the FMCSA to develop a curriculum.


Each module focuses on the specific criteria needed to qualify an individual with specific medical conditions. Any regulation changes that pertain to these medical conditions are also discussed.

  • Module #1 covers the roles of the driver, the motor carrier, and the medical examiner. The federal exemptions and SPE programs are also discussed.
  • Module #2 covers hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, and sleep apnea
  • Module #3 covers cerebrovascular diseases, seizures, neuromuscular diseases, diabetes, and mental health

Training jointly provided by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine, Providers of Accredited Chiropractic Education (PACE), and TeamCME.

In support of improving patient care, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and Team CME. Postgraduate Institute for Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
