ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course was developed by Dr. Michael Megehee and Dr. Jeffrey Carlson. In 2005, Dr. Megehee helped develop the NRCME core curriculum. He also assisted in creating test questions for the original test. In 2012, he was designated as an NRCME Champion by the chief administrator of FMCSA, Anne S. Ferro.
Dr. Megehee and Dr. Carlson have trained more than 10,000 medical professionals through live seminars and online training.

We dive into the cardiovascular conditions with their perspective guideline changes. We cover the peripheral vasular exam and the hypertension guidelines.

A detailed overview of the vision standard, alternate vision standard, hearing standard, and common disorders.

Learn the correct sleep apnea guidelines from the 2016 Medical Review Board Recommendations. Also get a review of other repiratory diseases and when pulmonary function tests are required.

Get an in-depth review of the medical determination criteria for seizures, strokes, traumatic brain injuries, and symptoms that may affect the ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

We will discuss what is needed and how to make a medical certification determination for drivers with musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions and/or deformities. Learn about how and when to use the Skilled Performance Evaluation (SPE).

We will discuss possible issues and concerns regarding gastrointestinal and genitourinary conditions and give an overview of the urinalysis. Review the difference in protocols between insulin-treated diabetes and non-insulin-treated diabetes.

We discuss the guidelines for drivers suffering from mental health conditions. We also discuss how to make a correct certification determination for drivers using various medications. You will learn the requirements surrounding drug and alcohol abuse and substance abuse programs (SAP).
